The Hulk    Simon Robb

The Hulk is an experimental history. It's the story of the men and boys aboard the hulk Fitzjames, a prison ship moored off the Adelaide coast in the 1880s.  'Delinquent' boys aged 8 to 16 were sentenced to periods of detention on the hulk where they endured a punishing regime of work and “reformation” at the hands of the authorities.  The Hulk explores both the historical existence of the Fitzjames and its uncanny presence within a contemporary imagination.
