Subject: slender thickness of language
Hi Teri,
how are you going?
been meaning to email yew fer weeks now
to tell you the de certeau reference yr slight books publications made me think of
its in Heterologies the piece called 'The arts of Dying : Celibatory Machine':
"The torture thus takes place in the slender thickness of language -a pane of glass, a wall - without the assumption that a non-localizable reality enters in" (161)
i think it's a really beautiful piece by certeau. it fascinated me a lot last year when i was thinking lots about Mr Duchamp and the bride stripped bare by her bachelors, even
i really like yr small books
i am about to make some more small books of my own and will send you one when done...
i really like the forced pause in little books, with so much page turning..
thanks for a delicious evening in adelaide.
would love to hear how you are doing
jane x
